The SGP1 Series tablets personal computers have been designed to comply with applicable safety requirements for exposure to radio waves. Your wireless tablet personal computer is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed to not exceed the limits* of exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by governmental authorities. These limits establish permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. The guidelines are based on standards that were developed by international scientific organizations through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. The standards include a safety margin designed to assure the safety of all individuals, regardless of age and health. The radio wave exposure guidelines employ a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate
(SAR).Tests for SAR are conducted using standardized methods with the tablet personal computer transmitting at its highest certified power level in all used frequency bands. While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various tablet personal computer models, they are all designed to meet the relevant guidelines for exposure to radio waves. For more information on SAR, please refer to the important information chapter in the User Guide. The highest SAR value as reported to the authorities for this tablet personal computer model when tested for use against the body is W/kg*. The tablet personal computer has been tested when positioned of 0 mm from the body without any metal parts in the vicinity of the tablet personal computer or when properly used with an appropriate Sony. For devices which include WiFi hotspot functionality, SAR measurements for the device operating in WiFi hotspot mode were taken using a separation distance of 0 mm. 2 0 mm.
**Before a tablet personal computer model is available for sale to the public in the US, it must be tested and certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that it does not exceed the limit established by the government-adopted requirement for safe exposure*. The tests are performed in positions and locations (i.e., by the ear and worn on the body) as required by the FCC for each model. The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this tablet personal computer model with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various tablet personal computer, all mobile tablet personal computers granted an FCC equipment authorization meet the government requirement for safe exposure. Your Xperia device from Sony runs on the Android platform developed by Google. A range of Google applications and services are available on your device when you purchase it, for example, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube and Google Play, the online store for downloading Android applications. To get the most out of these services, you need a Google account. For example, a Google account is mandatory if you want to:
Download and install applications from Google Play. Synchronise email, contacts and the calendar. Chat with friends using the Hangouts application. Synchronise your browsing history and bookmarks. For more information about Android and Google, read the article. To set up a Google account on your device 1 From your Home screen, tap 2 Find and tap Settings > Add account > Google. 3 Follow the registration wizard to create a Google account, or sign in if you
. already have an account. You can also sign in to or create a Google account from the setup guide the rst time you start your device. Or you can go online and create an account at www.google.com/accounts. Charging your device The battery is partly charged when you buy the device. You can still use your device while it is charging. Multiple user accounts Your device supports multiple user accounts so that different users can log in separately to the device and use it. For example, different users can have different home screen setups, wallpaper and general settings, as well as separate memory storage. So they can install their own applications and store les, such as music and photos that only they can access. Multiple user accounts work well in situations where different family or group members share the same device. The user who sets up the device for the rst time becomes the owner of the device. The owner is the administrator or primary user. Once you are logged in as the owner, you can add, change and delete other users via the Settings menu. You can also add restricted proles which have restricted access to apps and content from your account. Altogether, you can add a maximum of seven new users or restricted proles. As the owner, your account cannot be deleted. Some features are only available to the owner. For example, only the owner can access the external SD card. 11 This is an Internet version of this publication. Print only for private use. Using your device in wet and dusty conditions To ensure the water resistance of your device, all covers, including the covers for the micro USB port, the nano SIM card slot and the memory card slot, must be firmly closed. Your smart device is waterproof and dust resistant in compliance with the Ingress Protection ratings IP55 and IP58, as explained in the table below. To view IP test results for your device, go to www.sonymobile.com/global-en/legal/testresults/ and click on the relevant device name. These specific IP ratings mean that your device is dust resistant and is protected against low pressure water stream as well as against the effects of immersion for 30 minutes in fresh (non-saline) water up to 1.5 metres deep. You can use your device:
in dusty environments, e.g. on a windy beach. when your fingers are wet. in some extreme weather conditions, e.g. when its snowing or raining. in fresh (non-saline) water depths of 1.5 metres or less, for example, in a fresh water lake or river. in a chlorinated swimming pool. Even though your device is resistant to dust and water, you should avoid exposing it unnecessarily to environments with excessive dust, sand and mud or to moist environments with extreme high or low temperatures. The level of waterproofing of the micro USB port, the nano SIM card slot, the memory card slot and the headset jack cannot be guaranteed in all environments or conditions. Never immerse your device in salt water or let the micro USB port or headset jack come in contact with salt water. For example, if youre at the beach, remember to keep your device away from the sea water. Also, never expose the device to any liquid chemicals. For example, if youre washing dishes by hand using liquid detergent, avoid bringing your device in contact with the detergent. After exposure to non-fresh water, rinse your device using fresh water. Normal wear and tear along with damage to your device can reduce its ability to resist dust or moisture. After using the device in water, dry off the areas around all covers, including the covers for the micro USB port, the nano SIM card slot and the memory card slot. If the speaker or microphone get wet, their function may be effected until the water has completely dried. Please note that drying time can take up to three hours depending on the environment. During this time, you can, however, use other features in the device that do not use the speaker or microphone. All compatible accessories, including batteries, chargers, handsfree devices and micro USB cables, are not waterproof and dust resistant on their own. Your warranty does not cover damage or defects caused by tampering or improper use of your device (including use in environments where the relevant IP rating limitations are exceeded). If you have any further questions about the use of your products, please contact our Customer support service for help. Also, for warranty information, refer to the Important information which can be accessed via the Setup guide on your device. 103 This is an Internet version of this publication.
