Do not expose your Dell Mini device or its accessories to extreme temperatures. The recommended operating temperature is minimum: 10C and maximum: +55C. Do not carry your Dell Mini device in your back pocket as it could break when you sit. Choking Hazard for Small Children WARNING: If this device is broken or dissassembled, small parts may pose a choking hazard to small children. Do not leave your Dell Mini device and its accessories within the reach of small children or allow them to play with it. 4 Demagnetization To avoid the risk of demagnetization, do not allow electronic devices or magnetic media close to your Dell Mini device for a long time. Eye Strain, Seizures, and Blackouts Certain games and videos may be designed to produce flashing lights or light patterns. If you have a history of blackouts or seizures with exposure to flashing lights or light patterns, it is recommended that you consult a physician before you play games or watch videos on your Dell Mini device. To prevent eye strain, avoid viewing the screen for prolonged duration. Repetitive Strain To minimize the risk of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), when texting or playing games with your Dell Mini device:
Do not grip the Dell Mini device too tightly Press the buttons lightly Take breaks to stretch and relax Emergency Communication This Dell Mini device, like any wireless device, operates using radio signals, which cannot guarantee connection in all conditions. Loud Noise WARNING: This Dell Mini device is capable of producing loud noises which may damage your hearing permanently. Set the volume to a safe level. Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Information Electrical Safety Accessories Use only Dell approved accessories and battery pack with this Dell Mini device. Replace the battery only with a compatible battery purchased from Dell that is designed to work with your Dell Mini device. Do not disassemble the battery. 5 Hospitals Switch off your Dell Mini device when requested to do so in hospitals, clinics, or health care facilities. These requests are designed to prevent possible interference with sensitive medical equipment. Explosive Environments Petrol Stations and Explosive Atmospheres In locations with potentially explosive atmospheres, obey all posted signs to turn off wireless devices such as your Dell Mini device or other radio equipment. Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Information Faulty and Damaged Products Do not use the Dell Mini device, charger, and accessories if they are damaged. Do not attempt to disassemble the Dell Mini device or its accessories. Only qualified personnel must service or repair the Dell Mini device or its accessories. Hearing Aids Your Dell Mini device may interfere with some hearing aids. If you experience any interference, consult the hearing aid manufacturer or your physician to discuss alternatives. Pacemakers Pacemaker manufacturers recommend that a minimum separation of 15 - 20 cm be maintained between a Dell Mini device and a pacemaker to avoid potential interference with the pacemaker. Use the Dell Mini device on the opposite side to your pacemaker and do not carry it in a breast pocket. 6 Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Information 7 Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Information FCC Radiation Exposure Statement WARNING: The radiated output power of the Dell Mini device or any mobile device is below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. Nevertheless, this device should be used in such a manner that the potential for human contact during normal operation is minimized. This device has been evaluated for and shown compliant with the FCC RF exposure limits under portable exposure conditions (antennas are within 20 cm of a person's body) when installed in certain specific OEM configurations. Details of the authorized configurations can be found at https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/
GenericSearch.cfm by entering the FCC ID number on the device. 8 Radio Frequency Exposure Your mobile device contains a transmitter and a receiver. When it is on, it receives and transmits Radio Frequency (RF) energy. When you communicate with your mobile device, the system handling your connection controls the power level at which your mobile device transmits. Specific Absorption Rate Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves recommended by international guidelines. These guidelines were developed by the independent scientific organisation ICNIRP and include safety margins designed to assure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health. Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Information The guidelines use a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). The SAR limit for mobile devices is 2 W/kg and the highest SAR value for this device when tested in normal usage and body worn was under 2 W/kg. As SAR is measured utilising the device's highest transmitting power, the actual SAR of this device while operating is typically below the limits specified earlier. This is due to automatic changes to the power level of the device to ensure that it only uses the minimum power required to communicate with the network. Limiting Exposure to Radio Frequency Fields For individuals concerned about limiting their exposure to RF fields, the World Health Organisation (WHO) provides the following advice:
Precautionary measures Present scientific information does not indicate the need for any special precautions for the use of your mobile device. If individuals are concerned, they might choose to limit their own or their children's RF exposure by limiting the length of connections, or using 'hands-free' devices to keep your mobile device away from the head and body. Further information on this subject can be obtained from the WHO home page http://www.who.int/peh-emf (WHO Fact sheet 193:
June 2000). This equipment is intended for use with power supplied from supplied battery charger(s) and/or power supply unit(s). Other usage will invalidate any certification given to this product and may be dangerous. Switch off your cell phone when in an aircraft. The use of cell phones in an aircraft may be dangerous to the operation of the aircraft, could disrupt cellular networks, and may be illegal. Failure to observe this instruction may lead to suspension or denial of cell phone services to the offender, legal action, or both. Do not use the cell phone or cell phone equipment when at a refueling point or gas station. 8 Observe restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel depots, gas stations, chemical plants, or where blasting operations are in progress. When driving a vehicle, you MUST exercise proper control of the vehicle at all times. Observe the following safety precautions when driving:
Do not use a hand-held telephone or microphone while you are driving. When driving, find a safe place to stop the vehicle before using the phone. Do not speak into a hands-free microphone if it will distract you from driving. Before You Use Your Smartphone Proper Disposal The symbol of the crossed out bin indicates that the product
(electrical and electronic equipment) should not be placed in municipal waste. Please check local regulations for disposal of electronic products. You MUST NOT stop on the hard shoulder of a motorway to answer or make a call, except in an emergency. NOTE: In some areas where electric current is known to fluctuate, it is recommended that you plug the charger to an AVR (AC Voltage Regulator) instead of a direct connection to a power outlet. Fluctuations in the electric current may damage the charger and/or the device. General Statement on RF Energy Your phone has a transmitter and a receiver. When the phone is on, it receives and transmits radio frequency (RF) energy. When you communicate with your phone, the system handling your call controls the power level at which your phone transmits RF energy. 9 Setting Up the Phone for the First Time You must install the battery, SIM card, and charge the battery before you can use your smartphone. To set up your phone for the first time:
1 Open the cover Slide a finger into the finger slot, and then lift the cover. Setting Up Your Smartphone Setting Up Your Smartphone Congratulations on the purchase of your Dell Mini 3iX.
